Behind the intricate scripts, outfits, and props available at his Daz 3D store lies the creative mind of MikeD, a digital artist who has been a prominent figure in the Daz community since 2017 as a published artist. But MikeD's journey into the world of 3D design began in an unexpected place: the classroom. Trained in biochemistry, MikeD once worked as a high school teacher. His drive to visually represent biological mechanisms for his students led him to dabble in basic 3D animations. Over time, these animations evolved, compelling him to dive deeper into the world of 3D creation. MikeD's passion for the craft was evident when he discovered Daz Studio in 2015, an experience so captivating that he recalls spending the entire night immersed in its features. As an artist, inspiration flows to him from various sources, be it everyday life, books, movies, or PC games. He intricately designs his products, starting from a mere idea, harnessing references from the internet or personal photographs, and employs ZBrush, Substance Designer, and Substance Painter for texturing and detailing. But MikeD's journey hasn't been without challenges. Balancing his time between mastering complex 3D software, crafting new products, fulfilling responsibilities at his day job, and finding moments for himself was initially overwhelming but now is a full time DAZ Published Artist. Today, MikeD encourages budding artists to constantly evolve and offers a plethora of resources, from photo collections to free scripts and tutorials, on his personal site and various social media platforms. Away from the digital canvas, he enjoys photography, playing the guitar, and indulging in PC games and had a previous background as a glider pilot.
