DAZ Studio : Wardrobe Wonders
Create Standout Characters: Utilize your Existing Clothing Content to the Max!
Did you ever have the perfect character in mind, but had trouble finding just the right outfit?
Costume creation, using Daz 3D assets can sometimes be as easy as grabbing a product or two off the shelf and it all just works.
But the more we get used to Thinking Outside the Box, the easier the entire experience becomes.
From selecting pieces that complement our existing libraries to becoming increasingly skilled at purchasing costume items, we continually expand our resources for character creation.
In the new course Wardrobe Wonders, led by Dartanbeck, we’ll dive into various methods of costume creation, from simple texture edits to advanced mesh modifications. Whether using tools like the Geometry Editor, Hexagon, Mesh Grabber, or Fit Control, you’ll discover how each offers a distinct approach to mesh alterations, allowing you to find the one that best fits your personal style and skill level.
The same can be said for material changes – we can go into an image editor and make custom maps, or simply grab a shader preset from our library. Tweak our own shaders or borrow them from other products for use on something entirely different.
Learning to translate clothing across different Genesis generations (we’ll teach you how to do that) opens up a world of possibilities, allowing us to find just the right look for our characters. By combining the techniques we’ve discussed, this process becomes even easier and more enjoyable.
With an enormous selection of costumes available for Daz 3D figures, you can create stunning looks that work beautifully, regardless of the generation of your specific character.
Then we also have dForce to consider.
dForce can provide yet another whole world of flexibility to how we think about costume design. We’ll explore dForce for many situations to get just the right attire that bring our stories to life.
We’ll take a look at a range of case studies and discuss how they were created and why – along with starting from scratch and building a brand new costume with our story in mind as we go.

Now as a Daz 3d published artist, he has released several environment kits for Carrara software – specifically designed with animated movie makers in mind, plus released two character animation packs.
Dartanbeck is currently animating using Daz Studio and Carrara software and is having a lot of fun and success with it. Throughout his animation projects, he loves to share his experiences to help others to succeed as well.
His animation workflow includes Daz Studio with a collection of add-on plugins, Carrara 8.5 Pro, PD Howler, Affinity Photo, DaVinci Resolve, HitFilm and Magix MusicMaker Premium.
Dartanbeck lives in a small fishing city in Wisconsin and loves the changing seasons and has always been at home in the wilderness.
