Digital Art Live Community Workshop : Composition in Practice
Community Workshop : Composition in Practice – Seeing, Sharing and Discussing
Digital artists often know what composition rules are — but applying them consistently, with intent, is a different challenge entirely.
Many artists sense when an image “works”… but struggle to explain why. Others feel their scenes are detailed and technically solid, yet still lack focus, clarity, or emotional pull.
This community workshop is designed to look at composition as it actually appears in real artwork, not as abstract rules on a slide.
What we’ll Do Together
This is a relaxed, open community session focused on looking, discussing, and learning from real examples.
You’re encouraged (but never required) to bring along:
- • A finished image
-
• A work in progress
-
• Or a piece you feel demonstrates strong composition
We’ll explore how composition shows up in different styles, tools, and workflows — from 3D to AI-assisted work.
You can expect: Artist Sharing & Showcases
Participants are invited to screen-share or upload artwork and briefly talk through:
-
• Where they want the viewer to look first
-
• How they tried to guide attention
-
• What feels successful (or unresolved)
Camera on or off — entirely your choice.
Group Discussion: How Composition Actually Works
Together we’ll talk about topics such as….
-
• Visual hierarchy
-
• Framing and focus
-
• Balance vs tension
-
• Clarity vs clutter
Not as “rules”, but as choices artists make — consciously or unconsciously.
Community Insights & Gentle Guidance
This isn’t a lecture-heavy session. Instead, you’ll hear:
-
• How other artists think about composition
-
•What they struggle with
-
• What’s helped them gain clarity and impact
I’ll add structure where helpful, but the emphasis is on shared learning.
For artists who want to go further, I’ll introduce the Advanced Guide to Composition (see early bird access price with Platinum ticket)— a NEW six-week course at Digital Art Live designed to train how you see, decide, and communicate through images. This isn’t about collecting more rules or tricks. It’s about building fluency with composition as a visual language, so you can approach any scene with clarity, confidence, and intent.
If you’ve ever felt that your images are technically solid but still lack focus, impact, or a clear voice, this course is designed to address exactly that.
