BLENDER | FILMMAKING
“So I began with my rough mock-up scene of the asteroids, pretty simple, it’s like a sphere that was emitting all the particles. I just turned on Cycles and got a couple of layers of asteroids. Pretty simple, low poly and a lot of this stuff was just done with simple shaders.”
ALAN E. BAKER
Alan crosses the divide between visualising real space missions and screen sci-fi, bringing his expert Blender skills to both.
BLENDER | GIMP
“… the head of ESOCs needed quick illustrations of upcoming missions … This was my first paid commission, and involved systems for tracking asteroids … A year or so later, they needed images and animations for space weather monitoring spacecraft…”
MAXIME des TOUCHES
Maxime is an accomplished creator of epic 3D science-fiction ‘orbitscapes’, using the 3DS Max software.
3DS MAX | CINEMA 4D
“You can see in my artwork in general, lots of particles and light effects, I really love to improve the light in sci-fi compositions. In my opinion, there are no limits because we are in space — so anything could happen, even strange light effects.”
